About

paulabioPaula Moreira began her career as a techie and has spent the last 15 years working in Information Technology (IT) education and career development. Prior to making the move from full time techie to helping others develop their IT careers, she was a technical instructor, systems engineer, and consultant for Novell. At Novell, Paula managed the Certified Novell Engineer (CNE) and Certified Novell Administrator (CNA) certifications. The CNE certification set the standard for professional accreditation and helped tens of thousands of IT professionals embark on a career in IT.

During the Internet boom, Paula was part of the startup team for an IT professional community that offered free online technical training including labs and mentoring. As Editor-in-Chief for Leapit.com, Paula grew the community to over 100,000 members.

In 2000, Paula became Certification Magazine’s Careers Editor, a role she truly enjoyed for three years. During that time, Paula penned a monthly column covering topics ranging from resume writing and interviewing to IT career management.

Based on the success of Paula’s monthly column for Certification Magazine, she was approached by McGraw Hill to build a series of career management books specifically for IT professionals. That’s how the “Ace” series began. To date, the books have sold over 30,000 copies and are in their second edition. The “Ace the IT Resume” book was released in June and the “Ace the IT Interview” book in December 2007.

In addition to being an author, Paula is the global IT training manager for a large financial services organization. She and her team support the career development of over 1,500 IT professionals from technical training to professional development. What she enjoys most about her work is the day to day interactions she has with IT professionals and helping them develop and refine their skills for greater success.

Paula lives in Southern California with her husband (an IT guy), new baby daughter, and two doggies, Charger and Padre.
